Early Retro Carved Butterscotch BAKELITE Dress Clip

Bakelite has such a wonderful following, and this dress clip gives us a good example as to why! Invented about the turn of the century (1907-1909) by Belgium chemist Leo Baekeland (aka Bakeland) it is one of the earliest formable plastics. This fabulous Retro clip was molded, then carved in this very Deco/Retro design which was popular in the Great Depression of the late 1930's. Nice creamy butterscotch color it measures 2" x 2" and the squarish cut of this bakelite makes it a bit of a rarer form than some of the other examples we find; thus making it desirable for any bakelite or Retro jewelry collection. In very good condition it is circa 1935-1940, probably English in origin.

Retro Rhinestone Diamond Shape Cluster Drop Earrings

These Victorian paste earrings are sweet and dazzeling and have quite alot of sparkle to them. Wonderfully made, circa 1900s, they measure 1 ¼” x ½”. They are likely American in origin, but it's difficult to say the country of manufacture, could be English or French.

Retro Carved Butterscotch BAKELITE Dress Clips

Invented about the turn of the century (1907-1909) by Belgium chemist Leo Baekeland (aka Bakeland) it is one of the earliest formable plastics. These fabulous Retro clips were molded, then carved in this very Deco/Retro leaf design which was popular in the Great Depression of the late 1930's. Nice creamy butterscotch color they measure 2 1/2" x 1 1/2" each. In excellent condition, they would be fabulous for any bakelite or Retro jewelry collection and nice to find a pair and not just one! In very good condition it is circa 1935-1940, probably English in origin.

Item # G026

Victorian Garnet Bar Brooch

Victorian bar brooch with an open back setting of eleven oval shaped natural garnets, each set in their own little ring and then hand soldered together. Typical c-clasp and t-hinge to the reverse, this is an earlier bar brooch which is determined by the pin extending out further than the rest of the jewel. The garnets are in good condition and are of good color, I can not see any damage to the metal; however, all of the original gilding is mostly worn off of it. A nice example of a Victorian bar brooch, this one is a bit longer than the other ones I have and others I have seen. Maybe it was made or worn by a lady with a bigger neck? I don't know. But it is all original and I think a nice starter piece of Victorian jewelry. Not really "fine" but not costume either, this jewel is somewhere in-between. I just acquired it on a recent treasure hunt and did get lucky to find some nice Victorian pieces, this being one of them. Circa 1835 or a bit thereafter, likely English in origin, I could not see any markings on it.

Gorgeous Linear Vintage Articulated Rhinestone Earrings

Long Vintage Faux Pearl Necklace

Wonderful creamy vintage faux pearls all hand knotted in-between, this "oh so Co Co Chanel" necklace is flapper length measuring 28" long. In very good condition, I did not see any of the faux coating off of the glass, but there are a few pearls that can use some cleaning off, I am leaving it this way for the next owner to do, as they easily wipe off. These beads are glass with the faux coating; lots of time we see the plastic variety, but these are very pretty and heavy! Each pearl measures just over ¼" across. I would date this circa 1940-1950s. Would look lovely with any Chanel ensemble or in addition to a Miriam Haskell piece! Wonderful to wear for pictures, especially when clipped to the hair!

Victorian Dogs in the Dog House Cut Steel and Brass Earrings

These are the cutest earrings I have ever seen! I thought they were Art Deco when I first purchased them, but upon closer inspection they are Victorian cut steel. The theme is wonderful: a little dog that is chained to his dog house! These dimensional plaques were hand made with highly polished cut steel for the eyes and nose and then cut steel around the dog house and on the outer part of the scene as well. These are lever clips, so they adjust comfortably and easily. Each are stamped pat pending with a number on the reverse, one clip is silver tone, the other gold tone, which is unusual. I would date them circa 1880; the clips may be later additions.

Victorian Cut Steel Buttons - Set of Eight!

Always so nice to find a complete set of Victorian buttons! These wonderful hand made cut steel buttons are in very good condition and feature a cut steel floral head atop brass lily pad type stems. They definitely show the Asian influence and interest of that era. Hand made they are circa 1880 and likely English in origin. The only thing to note is that one of the floral heads is missing on one of the buttons.

Early Art Deco TRIFARI Enamel and Rhinestone Earrings RARE!

These are about the earliest Trifari earrings I've ever had, and I've handled a lot of Trifari and had quite a bit of it in my own collection. Very sweet Art Deco red enamel ribbons run through a bow of rhinestones. Unusual art deco clip backs signed Trifari with a crown on the reverse. Condition is good with some of the rhinestones that turned just a little bit, but I believe they are all original and a little wear on the enamel in one small spot and a little enamel amiss in two spots. This is a rare set of Trifari and not easily found and very early example of their work, I would date them circa 1930-1940s, American in origin, they measure ¾" x ¾".

Stylish Vintage CASTLECLIFF Faux Ruby & Turqouise Pin

Castlecliff jewelry was produced in New York, and their most famous designers were probably Anne Klein and Pierre Cardin. Starting business in 1941 they ceased production in 1977. Here we have a fabulous dimentional brooch in the design of a type of sun, with a gorgeous red faceted glass in the center surrounded by tiny faux turqouises then gold plated bursts stretching out with tiny faux seed pearls at each arms end! Really unique and fabulous! I would date this cirac 1960-1970, it may be earlier, but I don't think so. In excellent condition, it measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/8", American in origin. I do not know the exact designer to attribute this piece to, but if you like Anne Kleins or Cardin, you will probably want to add this fabulous example to your jewelry collection!
