Portrait Miniatures

Before the invention of photography, but after the making of the carved cameo, portrait miniatures were originally a way of capturing a loved one's image as a keepsake of great sentimental value. Unquestionable talent and skill went into painting these exceptional art treasures. Rare materials of ivory or vellum are historically used, but also metal and porcelain were used for the artist palette. The ones featured here are safely incased in their original ornate frames of brass or hand etched carved ivory.

Delicately painted using watercolor paints, these pieces range in price from $350.00 to $550.00
